Admiral B.J. Mitias:  bio information



After graduating from Ohio State, BJ taught chemistry, physics and math at Jonathan Alder HS in Plain City, then at Whetstone in Columbus.  She then got her masters in counseling from OSU and worked as a high school counselor at Northland HS in Columbus.  BJ moved to Athens, Ohio, for 20 years and worked as a substitute teacher and then a CETA counselor at Tri County Vocational School after her 2 children started school. 

She lived in the Middle East for a year in 1976.  BJ moved back to Columbus in 1989, and on her return she worked for the home economics section of the Ohio Department of Education for 2 years providing statistical information.  In 1991 she again enrolled at OSU in the PhD program for educational statistics. 

BJ opened Star Base Columbus in 1992, when she took a temporary leave from the program to tend the store and never made it back.  Her hobbies and interests are swimming, dancing, and reading and learning about Egyptology, quantum physics and, of course, science fiction.
